Many hams carried away designing tube amplifiers have a desire to use as the output power transformer industry. And then the choice falls mainly on the power transformer from the lamp
b / w TV, TC-180. This is probably the most "popular" transformer as the most common.
The biggest disadvantage of the transformer, the upper limit of the band. Can solve this problem partitioning of the windings, but this requires a rewind, but in this case defeats the purpose of using a ready supply transformer.
Fortunately, the parameters TS-180 can be a bit better with minimal improvement.
So this transformer has two primary windings on the voltage 127 volts (1-3, 1'-3 ') with taps on 110 volts (1-2, 1'-2'). When powered by a 220 volt network, winding at 110 volts in series, but when powered from 127 volts two windings of 127 volts are connected in parallel. So why not use some of the primary winding as one of the sections of secondary housing (pins 2-3; 2'-3 '). To do this, cut or unsolder wire coming from the screen on the winding track 4 (4 '), you now need to unsolder the wire from the output 3 (3') and solder it to the output 4 (4 '). Next soldering wire from pin 2 (2 ') share wires, check for broken and determine which part of the winding is one of the wires and the wire which is the outlet for 110 volts solder back to pin 2 (2'), and a second wire solder to pin 3 (3 ').
And we get two secondary windings for 58 turns (TC-180) or 53 turns (TC-180-2) between the layers of the primary.
Now you can wind , above all other windings, the second section of the secondary housing, for it removed a filament winding and in their place new dangle on each half to 58 turns (TC-180) or 53 turns (TC-180-2), wire diameter 0.6 -0.8 mm.
That is perhaps all, modified thus transformer can be used for example in the SE amplifier on 6P45S.
In conclusion I would add that the placement of the secondary winding in close proximity to the primary, reduces the reliability of the transformer.
